Why is Form W-4 needed to create pay stubs for my employees?

Based on the information provided on employee’s Form W-4, we will calculate the federal income tax applicable to withhold from their pay. Federal taxes for employees will vary based on the form, i.e., 2019 or 2020 Form W-4.

How do I add overtime or bonus to the pay stub?

In the Salary Information step, under Earnings, click on Add another earning and choose overtime, bonus, or any other earnings to be added to the pay stub. Enter the amount and Year-to-date (YTD) for the earning and proceed to download.

How do I add deductions for health insurance to the pay stub?

In the Salary Information step, under Deductions, click on Add deduction and choose any deductions from the list to be added to the pay stub. Enter the amount and Year-to-date (YTD) for the deduction and proceed to download.

I don’t have EIN. What should I do?

If you have just applied for an EIN and did not receive it yet, you can leave the field empty and continue with completing other fields. As the EIN field is optional, you can leave it blank and create pay stubs for employees and contractors.

My employee didn’t give Form W4. What should I do?

If your employee did not submit their Form W-4, you can choose single as their filing status with no other entries on steps 2, 3, and 4 of the Form W-4. Based on the selection, the taxes will be calculated appropriately.

What is an employee and contractor pay stub?

While an employee pay stub will have federal and state tax deductions listed, the contractor pay stub will not have any taxes. This is because companies should not take any deductions or taxes out of the payments made to contractors.

This could be because your payment may have been declined. Or, there was a mismatch between the billing address you entered and the registered address. Please make sure you enter the correct card information including the billing address.

What is YTD?

YTD amount means year-to-date amount. A year-to-date amount is the sum of the amount for the time between the beginning of the current year and the current date.

What is FICA tax?

FICA (Federal Insurance Contributions Act) tax is deducted from an employee's paycheck to pay social security and Medicare. Social Security is for the Old Age, Survivors and Disability Insurance program and Medicare is for the Hospital Insurance program.

Can a 1099 contractor get a pay stub?
